If you like the following, this trip might be for you:
An Devine Double 🇲🇽
Mexico is a diving Valhalla. It hosts tons of the most marine diverse areas in the world, and we found nothing better than to combine tow of them in one single trip: A Mexico Double of two destinations that would be worth visiting even individually. Crossing the Atlantic with a purpose, that is a 4 day ocean safari in Cabo, followed by a week Socorro liveaboard!
Socorro Island 🪨
Revillagigedo's archipelago's most well known island Socorro, is a magnet for large pelagics such as oceanic mantas, tons of sharks, dolphins and big schools of fish. It’s mysterious and humongous underwater rock formations are as spectacular as the animals that surround it. + Mid April is usually when whale sharks start appearing in the region!
Shark Diving Cabo 🌊
Before Socorro, and right in the heart of the spring pelagic season, we are taking on some open-ocean shark action in the Sea of Cortez and Pacific convergence zone with Latitude Encounters. Blue sharks, mako sharks and even the occasional smooth hammerhead roam these zones, and so will we! Mouth watering stuff.
Authentic Operators 🛥️
The Nautilus Under Sea is a top boat that cruises the Mexican waters year round and offers exquisite facilities and experienced crews. For Cabo, we rely on our top partners in the region, Latitude Encounters. Both operators are known to combine authenticity with extreme professionalism. Well informed, warm hearted and safe!
Sublime Timing ⌚
In Cabo, divers frequently encounter silky sharks and occasionally makos in the deep blue, with clear water and warming temperatures creating ideal conditions for offshore shark expeditions. With calm seas, strong marine life aggregation, and excellent visibility, April stands out as one of the prime months to experience big-animal diving in Socorro!
Behind the Mask ⚡
Both destinations have been the subject of our production team’s efforts in the last years. We dove in these areas extensively and were overwhelmed about the diversity in marine life, landscapes, the explorative nature of the diving. We really want other ocean enthusiasts to experience these thrills and spread the ocean message between their friends and family.
Top of our Range
Both Socorro and Cabo are at the absolute top of our range price quality wise. High end interaction at an affordable rate!
Mexico 🇲🇽
Mexico is probably the most diverse diving country in the world. Pelagic diving, corals, cenotes, sardine runs: it truly has it all. We are stoked to pick out two cherries on top of the Mexico cake. In addition, Mexico’s natural landscape, food and culture is spicy and rich. It’s just one of these destinations where *everything* fits.
The Gift That Keeps On Giving
"Whether it's Magbay, Sea of Cortez, the Grey Whales in San Ignacio, the sharks of the Pacific: Mexico is the gift that keeps on giving with consistent fantastic encounters. We keep mixing it up to keep our product lively. Always with the same focus: authentic wildlife and great people."

The Nautilus Undersea is a steel-hulled dive yacht originally built in 1968 and famously known in its earlier life as the Undersea Hunter before extensive renovation and relocation to Mexico.
The boat was lengthened and refitted with a full-width superstructure, stabilizers, and a large sundeck to enhance comfort and stability on long ocean crossings. At about 27–32 m (105 ft) in length, it accommodates around 18–19 guests in 8–9 en-suite, air-conditioned cabins with individual storage and camera gear areas, and includes spacious dive deck facilities, freshwater rinse stations, and support for nitrox and rebreathers.
Above decks there’s a comfortable lounge and dining area, a shaded sun deck with loungers and even a hot tub, plus satellite communications and a well-stocked bar — all designed to keep divers relaxed off the dive sites as well as on them. The Under Sea specializes in Socorro and other pelagic-rich destinations, blending rugged operational capability with surprisingly warm hospitality for its size.
The dive deck is ample and well-designed, with plenty of room for gear and a large camera table for photographers. Nitrox is available and a satellite phone is available onboard for emergencies.
Latitude Encounters are a team of ocean-loving, experienced adventurers.
Led by Mexican Fernanda and Belgian Mathias, Latitude consists of a team of scuba and freedivers with over 10 years in the dive and tourism industry. They joined forces to create Latitude, a company where they can share everything they’ve learned interacting with the ocean with one goal in mind: to give you the opportunity to experience wildlife in a way you never thought possible! Adventure, safety and respect are the main pillars of their operation. We as Behind the Mask were stunned by the professionalism and ocean knowledge of this extremely talented group of people, and are honoured to partner with them for this trip!
