Deep in the wetlands of South America one of the world’s largest and most powerful snakes lays hidden. A master of stealth and strength, its massive body is perfectly adapted to ambush prey in swamps and rivers. Enough of an invitation for us go to dive with them.

Anacondas don't give themselves away easily. During our 5 days expedition, we will spend a lot of time scanning river banks on the lookout for the gigantic elusive animal. Luckily we are not alone, as we have local guides know who know just a tad better where to scan.

Diving with anacondas happens in calm, shallow freshwater, usually around chest-deep. The snakes are huge but surprisingly calm, often just lying still in the weeds or slowly moving through the water. It's all about being in the humbling presence of an apex predator.

Days on the water can be rewarding, but are intense. We wind down at night at the Bonito Lodge, where every guest will enjoy the comfort of a single room with private bathroom and a hammock.

Our accommodation leans against the forest, so the animal life in the gardens around is splendid! Big macaws, tucans, capuchin monkeys and all kinds of other birds and lizards are lurking all around.
