We are no island upon ourselfes. As every creative human being we strongly depend on experience, but also on critics, feedback and opinions of others. We are grateful to be embedded in a network of fantastic people, organisations and brands who help us to improve our work. We choose our partners very carefully depending on common ground. We are very honest in giving feedback to products and will state our very own opinion at any time. This page is meant as a little ‘thank you!’ for those who continuously support us along the way.
Long before we connected with B&W International we were using their outdoor cases to transport and protect our camera equipment. Ever since transporting and storing gear is very important for us. For flights we need to pack sensible equipment for checking in . Always considering the best relation of cost and weight always causes long preparations for traveling. With B&W cases we are now able to pack our equipment safe and sound for longer travels. We are also very happy to help improve B&W products by giving detailed feedback on their use in the field.
The name ‘Behind the Mask’ originally comes from the dive mask. Even though we are getting more and more active in other fields we still have that strong connection. When we first decided to seriously build up ‘Behind the Mask’ as a blog, we depended on a partner who would sponsor our trips. Otherwise we would never be able to afford all the traveling and we would never be able to tell all the stories you now find here on the blog. Robert Wilpernig and his company Wirodive were with us right from the beginning. Not only has Wirodive an unmatched portfolio of exclusive dive trips, the company also welcomed us with open arms when we had nothing but good ideas. The films about our trip to the Galapagos were the first big hit and the start point for many more stories.
GoPro Action-cameras played an important roll in our projects since we started. Getting that one more special angle is sometimes only possible with a unbreakable all-round camera like the GoPro. We are currently using a bunch of GoPro Hero 4 to mount on drones, kites, uw-scooter or any other highly exposed place. We are very happy to have GoPro as an reliable partner who provides us with advice, equipment and support. In return we deliver footage for internal GoPro Productions such as this one about the Sealions of the Galapagos.
Stefan Horwath and his team of UW-Fotopartner provide us with support, maintenance and equipment regarding Underwater activities. Located in Nagold in southern Germany UW-Fotopartner is not only the biggest european online shop for under water photo/video equipment, but also a physical shop where you can get first class service and maintenance.
Once in a while you meet a special person who you instantly connect with. A person who understands and supports all you do no matter how crazy it might look like in the beginning. Al Curry from Oceanfox Cottonbay on the beautiful Island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas has supported Behind the Mask right from the start. Spending weeks and weeks together on shooting sharks, flying drones or discovering island culture we can relay on him like family. We support him with our work and expertise to make Eleuthera the Shark Capital of the world. Yeah! Rock and Roll!
